Cornwall RFU are saddened to learn of the passing of our former President Peter Michell. Peter who was aged 90 served as President between 2003-06.
A formidable scrum-half in his playing days, Peter’s club was Penzance & Newlyn for whom he played 507 times. He also played for the Army and got his Inter-Services cap.
He first played for Cornwall in 1953 against Gloucestershire at Redruth and went on to play for Cornwall on 60 occasions. Highlight was undoubtedly the county final in 1958 when Cornwall lost to Warwickshire at Coventry.
He also captained South West Counties against the 1960 Springboks at Camborne and in 1964 partnered his cousin Richard Sharp again for South West Counties against the All Blacks at Exeter.
He was also involved for many years with the Playing Fields Association.
The President of the CRFU, Andy Reed and all officials wish to express their sincerest condolences to Peter’s family and friends.

Friday 10th November at 12:30 pm at Madron Church
Burial at Penzance Cemetery and the wake is to be held at Queen’s Hotel, Penzance.
