Covid Awareness as Cases Rise Again in Cornwall
To All Clubs and Players
With the rise in cases of Covid D variant in Cornwall, despite all the progress over the past few months, the rugby community is still extremely vulnerable and it is probably timely for all clubs, teams and players to remind themselves of the necessary precautions.
Anecdote and direct observation shows that being human we have all become a little complacent in our behaviours both on and off the pitch thereby exposing ourselves to additional risk whilst still playing the game at level D2.
Attached are the extended guidelines for dealing with a positive covid test and also the guidance on first aid provision in the Covid climate.
If there any questions or concern please don’t hesitate to contact rugbysafe@crfu.co.uk

Cornwall Skills Program
Cornwall Skills Programme
We are pleased to announce the registration for the Cornwall Skills Programme (CSP) is now OPEN. In the past the registration was done on paper and posted to the CSP manager. This year we have moved to an online registration form to make it easier (and greener) for all. Please follow the link to the Microsoft Form and fill it in. Questions marked with an * are required fields. Some questions don’t require an answer e.g the bank details to pay for the CSP, they are for your information only.
Please note; U14’s & U15’s boys should select their closest satellite venue (Penryn, Penwith, Callywith or Newquay). U16’s Boys should select Truro as all U16’s boys will train at Truro College. All girls should also select Truro (girls CSP) as all girls will train at Truro College.
U14’s / U15’s Boys will train every Monday evening from September – April, commencing September 13th 2021.
U16’s Boys will train every Tuesday evening from September – April, commencing September 14th 2021.
U15 & U18 Girls will train every other Friday evening (bi-weekly) from September – April, commencing 20th September 2021.
Important Information
Last season U13’s didn’t happen due to Covid (we are also now not running U13’s to stay aligned with the RFU DPP programme). Those U13’s that registered and paid last season don’t need to pay again for the U14’s season, but please re-register so we have any new information / contact details.
Rich Siveter was the CSP manager, however due to new work commitments he has stepped down from his role. Rich did a fantastic job organising the CSP to provide further development opportunities for players in Cornwall and I’d like to thank him for all his hard work. I have taken over from Rich Siveter, so any questions please contact me on richardphillips@exeterchiefs.co.uk.
We are very excited to get the CSP up & running and to provide more development opportunities for your son/daughter.
Kind regards,
Richard Phillips
DPP Coach

CRFU President makes Mitsubishi Award Presentation to Matt
Our President, John Sumnall was delighted to be able, at long last due to covid restrictions, make the Mitsubishi Volunteer award to Stithians RFC’s Matt Reckner.
Matt worked tirelessly, with others, to turn the club around when it went through a difficult period some 18 months ago.
Well done Matt and “Up the Village!”

Upcoming RFU Courses in Cornwall – Numbers needed for courses to run
Kids First Contact Course to be held in Truro RFC needs numbers. At the moment only 4 signed up, needs minimum of 10 to run, so book now please.
I just wanted to make you aware that all course numbers in Cornwall are below the minimum required at the moment so It would be great if you could promote them with any contacts in Cornwall that you may have. I know that some courses are a little way off yet but if possible I would like to get all these courses running with good numbers.
I will share the details attached in the poster with all club coaching coordinators via GMS and wondered if you had a direct mailing list for clubs that you could send this via as well? Try to hit as many people within clubs so the message isn’t missed.
Thanks for your help.

Saunts’ completes first of CRFU events to mark RFU 150th anniversary
The first of the three events by the CRFU to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the RFU was completed as Saunts, CRFU Chair, finished his 150 mile walk on Saturday at Perranporth RFC. He was accompanied at various times by members of Bodmin RFC, his wife Jenny and other colleagues from rugby.
CRFU President John Sumnall had arranged a reception at his Club to welcome Saunts and fellow walkers and he was met by Club members and members of the CRFU Management Board. The Club had arranged a “Fun Day” to celebrate the event and some 90 children, parents and club players took part in a series of touch rugby matches by mixed teams.
Saunts walk was in response to RFU President, Jeff Blackett, stating that he would be walking 150 miles visiting as many Clubs and Counties as possible and asked that Constituent Bodies and Clubs to join the fund raising for The Injured Players Foundation. At the reception the Perranporth Club donated £739 that had been collected from car parking at their Club. Further donations may be made to: Link to Just Giving Page below.

The next event will be the CRFU Presidents Challenge to all Clubs in Cornwall to complete 150 laps of their pitch in teams of as many as they wish and whenever it is convenient for them. The final event will be held on Wednesday 03 November when the CRFU Management Board will accompany the RFU President from Saltash RFC to the middle of the Tamar Bridge where we will be met by Devon RFU who will accompany him to Tamar Saracens RFC.
